Fall 2024 Ask Letter - Give to Support Immediate Needs and Scholarships for Current Quaker Students

Quaker pride runs deep for alumni, and for good reason! Franklin High School has helped shape leaders in politics, music, sports, advocacy, business, medicine, human services, and nearly every sector you can imagine. Our high school experience, grounded in social justice and enriched by music, sports, academic excellence, and arts, has created generations of changemakers. And as alums, we have been showing up in force to support and enrich the lives of the next generation of changemakers.

Thanks to your dedication and partnership, the Franklin Alumni Association and Foundation (FAA&F) has been growing in memberships and giving, with more donors directing their contributions to scholarships in areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), trades, music, science and immediate needs of students. Last year, 25 students received scholarships ranging from $500-$5000.

Please consider making a gift today, to show your Quaker love to the students at Franklin High School.

Our scholarship chair, Herman Houston recently shared some thoughts about the outstanding students who share their lives and their dreams within their applications:

“I find the most pride in the fact that our committee understood the humanity and the life story that was often hidden between the lines written by students trying to win a scholarship: Students who have already used a lifetime of hope. Students who had to forfeit their childhood to help their family survive. Students who got schooled by the facets of racism and death. Students with the wisdom that mental health is not G.P.A. Students with dreams weighted down by reality. Students with a North Star.”

In addition to scholarships, your gift to the foundation provides support to meet immediate needs like warm coats, grocery gift cards, and school supplies. We also make annual grants to purchase and update sports uniforms, and another to support extracurricular activities, replace broken or missing equipment, and fund field trips. During the 23/24 school year, these grants and scholarships represented nearly $87,000 in investments to Franklin High School students.

Will you join us and make a gift to support the students at Franklin High School? Quakers have made a difference in this world, and we can make a difference at Franklin.
