Calling all Quakers! Annual Campaign 2021

Calling All Quakers!

Quaker LQVE! Franklin High School is shaping the minds of young Seattleites for generations to come. Our school community has always had a razor-sharp lens on equity and a commitment to celebrating the humanity in each other. Our current Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools, the Franklin Principal and the football coach are all Alumni. You and your classmates are leading the world on large and small platforms every day, and we need you. Franklin students need you.

JOIN OR RENEW TODAY!

With masks on, FAA&F works to support our alumni and the current students at FHS. We had an incredible year and huge ambitions. Our recent activities include:

  • Significantly increasing fundraising efforts to accommodate more scholarships and educational experiences of students

  • Attending ‘56 and ’66 Class Reunions to celebrate them and discuss the work of FAA&F

  • Connecting with local businesses to cultivate scholarships as well as internship opportunities

  • Extending free initial membership to class of ‘21 at Senior Day resulting in 110 new members

Our kids need support! Herman Houston, ‘67 our Scholarship Committee Chair, and his team dream of a scholarship for every deserving applicant. That means doubling the current number of scholarships given. Every scholarship sends a message to recipients that we care about them and their future success.

Your membership dues and donations make a difference. With your support, this last year during COVID-19 we awarded nearly $50,000 in grants including support for:

  • Basic Needs - A pivot to support families with rent and food to get our students through the lockdown and remote learning period

  • Athletics Program - Rotating support for team uniforms was paused during the pandemic and has been restarted

  • Scholarships - Eighteen Franklin seniors received nearly $40,000 in scholarships. Most scholarships went to households with less than $35,000 income a year

Join us! As a member, you’ll get the Quaker Times and know that you have truly made a difference for Franklin students. There is no better way to support Franklin’s legacy.

Your support makes it all possible. Pay it forward to the newest generation of future alumni. Please JOIN or RENEW, and if you are already a lifetime member, please make an additional DONATION. Franklin students need you! There are many ways to show your LQVE and school spirit. You can:

  • Make a financial donation

  • Volunteer your skills for a specific project

  • Facilitate partnership opportunities with businesses and community partners to benefit students

  • Volunteer your time to support the newsletter

If you are even the least bit tempted, contact us so we can talk you into volunteering!

The Mission of the Franklin Alumni Association & Foundation is to provide support to enhance the educational experience of Franklin students and to keep Franklin graduates connected with one another and with Franklin High School. We could use help in the following areas:

  • Hall of Fame Planning Committee - FUN committee members that could use representation of alumni that graduated after 1990

  • Graphic Designer - We could really use some style updates and/or a pro to call when we run into design needs

  • Newsletter Committee - New editor in need of a reporter or two. A couple stories a year would be great
