2022 Scholarship Winners

Each year, the FAA&F awards five $2,000 Scholarships established from an endowment. However, with over forty (40) outstanding applications to consider, awarding just five scholarships seemed like an impossible task. Fortunately, with contributions from Alumni Board, Committee Members, and caring Quaker alumni, we are able to announce thirteen $2,000 Scholarship Awardees. I cannot help but parody the saying, “A rising endowment raises all scholarships.” The additional eight allocations will help change a life.

Charles Parker comes from a multi-generation Franklin family with deep roots in South Seattle, though he graduated from Ingraham High School in north Seattle, the result of a period of busing in Seattle (1972 – 1999). He says, “I grew up in the Seattle system and it failed me.

Franklin Alumni Association and Foundation Connect with Seniors

On June 10th, Board members Tamiko Miyano ‘88 and Deborah Burton ‘67, President of FAA&F, were present at the Senior Check Out day at Franklin. Over 150 seniors, soon to be alumni, stopped by their table and signed up for a free one-year membership in the association.

Needless to say, COVID took a toll in many ways in 2020, and persists. It eliminated our Annual Golf Tourney in 2020--along with most group activities here and around the world.

FHS Hall of Fame 2022

Franklin Alumni Association and Foundation Hall of Fame Dinner tentatively set for Spring 2022. We are in the early planning stages of hosting the Franklin Alumni Association and Foundation Hall of Fame dinner and are soliciting committee members who would like to help create this event.

Principal's Greeting August 2021

As we begin the 110th year since the first graduating class walked across the stage, and as the proud principal of Franklin High School, it is an honor to send this greeting in the Quaker Times. While I am the proud principal, I am also a proud graduate of Franklin from the class of 1997. As such, I wake up everyday feeling blessed and thankful to walk the halls of Franklin and to nurture Franklin’s legacy of Truth, Unity and Honor.

My name is Deborah Burton from the illustrious class of ‘67. It has been my honor to serve as President of the Franklin Alumni Association and Foundation for the last year and will do so for upcoming year. I must say that the FAA&F Board has been rejuvenated with outstanding Franklin Alums: Christine Chacòn ‘98, David Duryee’56, Tamiko Miyano ’88, Noah Purcell ‘97, Heleya de Barros ‘02, Erica Merritt ‘93, Herman Houston ’67, Anna Cronin’98, Erica Merritt ’93, Toni Mamallo-Thomas ‘67, Drew O’Connell (ex-officio), ‘97, and Stephanie Ragland, who joined the board when her sons attended Franklin (Nick ’08 & Michael ’11).
